About

Tom Lambotte is the Founder and President of GlobalMac Consulting, an Apple Consulting firm that pairs an extensive background in training, sales and business management, with a passion and depth of knowledge for all things Mac. This allows him to provide a unique, customized, flexible training and troubleshooting solution for home and small business users.

“Ever since I was a child, I’ve always been fascinated by technology,” says Tom Lambotte. “Whenever I would get a new toy, I actually read the manual, cover to cover, and afterwards, spent hours figuring out everything else it could do that wasn’t mentioned in the manual.”Tom Lambotte

“I grew up using Macs, however got a PC laptop when I went away to school at UC-Santa Barbara. I ran my first business throughout college, working part-time during the school year and full-time during the summers. I never considered myself as a computer geek, using things like DOS, scripting and the programming line. I enjoy using the computer for what it is supposed to do for end users, right out of the box. While owning that Compaq laptop, I experienced all the frustrations that PC users go through on a daily basis: Repeated crashes (while writing papers), spending hours troubleshooting printer issues (always at critical times), virus issues and, finally, a complete meltdown in the middle of a training seminar, during which I lost all my critical files, including irreplaceable photos from a recent travel abroad program in Japan.”

Many of my colleagues were using Macs, so when my PC finally died, I replaced it with a 12” PowerBook G4. Overnight, I was hooked. I’ll never forget how amazed I was by how intuitive it was to use. When I started digging in, I quickly realized there were tons of great and useful features built into it that the majority of people never used.

This launched my deep fascination and passion of all things Mac, which is stronger than ever today. During the years that followed, I spent countless hours learning about all the Apple products. Like a hobbyist mechanic who educates himself by taking cars apart in his garage during his spare time, I learned as much as I could about these wonderful machines. I tried and tested hundreds of 3rd party programs, including many great freeware programs. I have extensively used and learned all the native applications, like the iLife suite (iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie, iWeb, iDvd), iWorks (Pages, Numbers & Keynote) and everything in between.

Since I was still running a business during this time, I also was always finding ways to track, organize and streamline my business with it, using it to simplify what I was doing. I remember controlling my iTunes and scrolling through my training notes, all by using my Bluetooth enabled cell phone and some free 3rd party software.

Tom quickly climbed the ladder of success while working with Vector Marketing throughout college and earned top honors in the $200 million company, while settinging sales records that stand to this day. Starting in sales and moving into management, Tom developed the Temecula District in Souther California from the a previous summer sales record of $80,000 to over $325,000 in a matter of two years. He was the undefeated champion in Southern California for 4 years as a branch manager, #1 and #2 in the Western Region and finished in the top 5 nationally out of over 200 offices. During this time, Tom honed his skills in running a business Tom interviewed over 4,000 people, trained over 500 and accumulated over $1.5 million in sales for the company. He was awarded a top 10 Productivity Award nationwide every year as a manager, along with countless sales trophies.

In the Fall of 2007, Tom Lambotte decided to pair his love affair of Macs and his passion of running his own business by starting up the Santa Cruz Mac Tutor after having tested the waters of the corporate world for a couple years. During this time, he was employed by the Anthony Robbins Company, Access Nurses and Strategic Development Worldwide, a business consulting firm. The cubicle and corporate politics world didn’t work for him, and lead him back to his passion of running a business himself and working with Macs on a day to day basis.

The original business was started in Santa Cruz and got going pretty quickly in a matter of four months. In January of 2008, Tom moved back to his home town of San Diego, renamed the business to “the San Diego Mac Tutor” and rebuilt the business from the ground up. During the next year, Tom grew his client base to over 200 in San Diego, along with a handful of remote clients worldwide. In 2009, as the horizon expanded Tom decided to re-brand himself for future growth and flexibility as GlobalMac Consulting, so that the name would not restrain his growth of the business

In July of 2009, Tom moved his family to Cleveland, Ohio, where he currently resides with his wife, Christine and his two English Bulldogs, Zeus & Luna. In a matter of one year, Tom developed a large base of business clients including law firms, small to medium business, and retail stores.
